FEATURE OF THE MONTH!

by

Our STUDENT OF THE MONTH for JUNE 2016 is…

ELISA RIVERA

FullSizeRender-7

Age:  I am 44 yrs old.

Profession: I am an Administrative Secretary at Miami-Dade Police Department.  I am a mother of two, daughter is 29, son is 24, and a 3 month grandson. Lifetime goal.. Bodybuilding!

When did you first start training at WOFB and how did you find out about us?  I started training at WOFB in September 23, 2015. I found out about WOFB through a coworker (Aude) who did the program. She insisted for me to go and experience one of Lorraine’s workouts; she said Lorraine was tough and that I would like it.

Tell us about your sports & fitness background:  I was raised in the Bronx, NY and after school I would go the Boy’s Club (YMCA) – that’s where I was introduced to bodybuilding. Only boys would weight train there. My mom consented for me to weight train. That’s how my love for iron began.  However, at the age of 15 I got married, husband joined the Navy and I had a daughter. Moved to California and gained 100 pounds! Through the years I struggled with the weight and diets. Years passed, I separated, moved to Miami and I did a program called “A Course In Miracles”.  It’s a self-development class, where I healed. Healed from depression, dysfunctional relationships, food addictions… it was revealing.  It’s been approximately 13yrs since I lost 100 lbs. I started training continuosly about 4yrs ago at the Police Academy. They had a bootcamp class after work, when that was over, I started looking into WOFB.  Now I train at WOFB in the mornings, and 1hr of cardio and 2hrs of weight training in the afternoons – Monday-Friday from 5-8pm.  I have another passion… salsa dancing.

Favorite Workout (or type of workout):  Chest exercises.

Least Favorite Workout:  Renegade rows!!

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and overall fitness since starting WOFB? WOFB is Amazing..the bootcamp is part of my morning.  It’s my coffee to start the day. When I arrive at 5:45am and see the group and Lorraine – it motivates me on my ‘down’ days.  My body is being sculpted as we speak..YES! the cardio, muscle confusion, kick boxing..Lorraine keeps it real!  Always fresh, something new, and most of all CHALLENGING!  Since starting I am focused on my wellbeing, goals and workouts. I have gained endurance and speed, learned proper form in the exercises and most of all – it feels like a family.

Elisa, you are family!  CONGRATULATIONS!  We are proud of your achievements thus far, and from what we can see, there is more to come!  Keep it up.  We will be there to support when you take on your first bodybuilding competition.
