COMMITMENT IS KEY!

by

The majority of the things we want in life require large commitments – a successful marriage, mastering an instrument or a new language, getting that top-ranking position at work….it all takes a serious investment of time.  AND FITNESS IS NO DIFFERENT!

In order to win big, you have to bet big – go ALL IN!  That means that “Almost” doesn’t really count. “Wanted to” doesn’t really cut it. “Thought about it” won’t work – and the list goes on. There is only “I did” and “I didn’t”. Just like the basic laws of physics, with every action there is a reaction – so if your plan this summer is to pray and hope that you’ll one day become a millionaire or get that dream body you’ve been hoping for, while all you can do is pray and hope, well….try it out and let me know what happens.

Losing fat and getting fit is NOT EASY!  It takes work and time and sweat and dedication….and anyone telling you otherwise either has no clue or is lying to you.  Yes, you have to sacrifice dessert sometimes.  Yes, you may have to eat that healthy chicken breast and broccoli dinner while everyone else eats pizza.  Yes, you may have to say “no” to that 2nd glass of wine.  Yes, you may have to get up at 7am to get that workout in while your family sleeps in.  We can all face the difficulty of actually wholeheartedly committing to something… but once you do, when you wholeheartedly commit to something, you unleash a side of yourself that is bigger, bolder, and better – a side that is surreal. Because trust me, as scary as it might be, committing to something rather than “fitting in” feels absolutely amazing!  Running your own race without worrying about other “biased” opinions is exhilarating!  Being passionate about what you do, committing to what you’re working on unconditionally shows you what you really are made of, feeling a level of empowerment you haven’t really felt before.

Fitness starts in your mind.  Ask any athlete or fit person what the number one secret is to his or her success at fitness, and they will tell you… it is COMMITMENT.

Commitment means that you are in it for the long haul. Commitment rises above bad days, hectic schedules and volatile emotions. Commitment hangs in there when you don’t want to do it, when you don’t feel like doing it and when you don’t have time to do it. Commitment doesn’t require expensive workout clothes or fancy gym equipment.

True commitment doesn’t depend on how you feel.  It depends on your integrity and on living for the purpose you have set for yourself.

Are you committed to get fit?
