Ladies,
I feel great! How about you? This challenge seems like a piece of cake so far. The motivation is high and the support system is top notch! Let’s try to maintain this all the way….

Let’a talk about CHIA SEEDS!
What are they?
“Chia” means strength. They’re tiny, edible, black and white seeds that come from a plant grown in Mexico. Folklore has it that the Mayans and Aztecs used to use them as energy boosters….that would make sense since they contain healthy omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, antioxidants, and calcium. Chia seeds are an unprocessed, whole-grain food that can be absorbed by the body as seeds (unlike flaxseeds which is why I always recommend flaxseed oil.)
Approximately 2 tablespoons contains 139 calories, 4 g of protein, 9 g fat, 12 g carbs & 11 g of fiber (plus vitamins and minerals). They are most often sprinkled on cereal, sauces, vegetables, rice dishes, or yogurt or mixed into smoothies and baked goods.
TRY THIS for your next meal…
CHIA BERRY GREEN PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
2 cups fresh spinach leaves (you can use any greens you like: kale, chard, collard, etc.)
1 cup frozen berries
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 banana
1/4 – 1/2 cup water or almond milk
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein

sounds like one of my smoothies, minus the yogurt. They are a nutrient powerhouse, help you feel fuller longer, and keep you regular 😉 … they are a staple in my smoothies now!
A tip, soak them over night in the milk. Otherwise, they do not break up easily in your smoothie. cheers all!

I was just at COSTCO and they sell a big bag of it for a lot cheaper than what you can get it at other places. It is worth checking out. They also sell quinoa and organic brown rice at great price too. I will try this out for sure. Thanks!

I love Chia seeds! I make chia pudding by soaking them overnight with some water and a splash of vanilla almond milk, stevia and cinnamon. The chia seeds swell up and get a gummi-like texture. I have even soaked them a few hours in my green tea, so it ends up being similar to a “boba tea”.
