Our Very Own Lorraine Is Competing In FAME On October 31st!

September 29, 2008

We have a big event to celebrate on October 31st, and we’re not talking about dressing up or collecting candy! Lorraine, our bootcamp instructor is going to take part in a huge event called FAME (Fitness Athletes Models Entertainment). She is working very hard for this competition, training everyday and sticking to a strict meal plan.

FAME is going to take place on the Friday night of Halloween. We will be canceling all bootcamp classes for the night, in order to help her prepare for the show. Therefore, please try to get in your 3rd bootcamp session on another day of the week. Also, we hope to see lots of bootcampers at the event in order to cheer her on and show our support.

Here are the details:

Date & Time: Friday, October 31st, 2008 at 6pm

Location: Ashe auditorium, Hyatt Regency miami- 400 South East Second Avenue

We will try to plan it out so that we can all wear our bootcamp shirts! Go Lorraine!

Lets Get Ready For The Upcoming 5k!

September 24, 2008

Girls! Its time to get excited about the next 5k run/walk!

Date and time: Sunday, September 28th at 7:30am

Location: Crandon Park, Key Biscayne

What to bring: Good running shoes, sunblock, your bootcamp or event t-shirt, an MP3 player (optional) and lots of energy!

Remember, if you haven’t yet signed up for the run, go to runmiami.com and do so! If anyone is interested in meeting up at FFA and car pooling, please let us know so that we can make arrangements.

Here’s a tip ladies:

The night before the race, make sure to have a healthy, high-protein meal with moderate carbohydrates. This should be sufficient to give you the energy you need for the 3.125 mile run or walk the next morning, if you aren’t comfortable with having breakfast so early. If you prefer to eat a little something before the event, make sure to give yourself enough time to digest, and eat something simple, such as fruit or oatmeal.

I hope to see a huge group of bootcampers there! Good luck!

First Run Meet Was This Past Saturday!

September 24, 2008

Hi ladies!

As you all should know, we have organized our first ever bootcamp running group. Our first meeting was on Saturday, September 20th at 8:30am. We met at the hill at Tropical park, and then made our way over to the running track, where we practiced different techniques and drills to condition us for the upcoming 5k! The ladies were timed for the distance of 1.5 miles, which is almost half of the distance for the 5k. Everyone did awesome! And for your information ladies, if you met us at the hill, ran to the track, ran 1.5 miles, and then ran back to the hill… you ran about 2.7 miles! Almost the entire distance of the 5k! Congratulations! If we keep this up, we will all be ready to run the races quickly and effortlessly in no time!

We would like to hold these run meets at Tropical Park on a weekly basis, excluding the weekends where we have to participate in the 5k’s. Please let us know what you think, and if you would be interested in showing up every Saturday morning for this training! Even if you cannot participate in the 5k runs/walks, these conditioning exercises will help you to better your performance in bootcamp and to burn more calories!

Again, thank you all for showing up and being part of the greatest running team!

Kathy’s Field Day Was A Hit!

September 24, 2008

There was a large group of bootcampers who attended, as well as the entire Fitness Depot squad! Activities for the day included bounce houses, potato sack races and rock climbing!

Thanks Kathy, for having us be a part of this special event!
